Walks along our waterways

Enjoy two gentle walks along some of Nottingham's most beautiful waterways as part of our popular Walkie Talkie Wednesday gentle strolls for health.

Nottingham canal walk - Wednesday 30th August10:30am

Our next walk on Wednesday 30 August will take in a stretch of Nottingham's beautiful canalways, a crucial link from the 1700s between the coalmines of the Erewash valley and the markets of Grantham.  We'll meet at Nottingham Station tram stop and follow the beautiful canal towpath to the river near Trent Bridge for around two t0 two-and-a-half miles.  The towpath is flat and hard-surfaced, involving just a few well-defined steps across the bridge. Our expereinced walk leaders and two members of staff will be on hand to offer sighted guide support if needed.  After crossing Trent Bridge there will be an optional additional loop along the river past Nottingham Forest football ground, before returning to theTrent Bridge Inn for refreshments.

Victoria Embankment walk - Wednesday 13 September 10:30am

Our walk on Wednesday 13 September will be a steady walk along the lovely tree lined embankment and gardens by the side of the River Trent.  We'll meet at Meadows Embankment  tram stop and stroll for distance of two to two-and-a-half miles. Our walk will take us along the north side of the river to Trent Bridge where we cross over the River Trent and return on the other side. The route is all on tarmacked surfaces with just a few slight dips and raises and our experienced sighted guides will be on hand to offer support if you need them. After our walk we'll stop for refreshemnts at The Ferry Inn at Wilford.
