Need help with your Computer?
Do you struggle to see what's on your computer screen?
Are you nervous about using a computer?
Do you want to know how the latest technology can help you in your daily life?
There are many ways in which we are helping people with a visual impairment learn about new technology or get to grips with computers, the internet or mobile phones.
Our Computer Class meets every Wednesday between 9.00am - 3.00pm at our centre at Ortzen Street. Our experienced volunteers can help you learn how to touch type, shop online, access email and access social networking sites amongst many other things. If you wish to join the computer class please call the office for more information and to arrange an initial visit.
Our home visiting IT service will help you set up and familiarise you with your home computer. We can show you how a few simple changes, such as enlarging the text, adjusting the resolution, choosing a different colour or using speech software can help you to use your computer in the way that you want to.
Please call our office to arrange an assessment to see if a home visit is suitable for you. Prices for a visit are just £5 for members and £6 for non members.
As well as teaching computer skills we support our service users through the process of purchasing a new computer. Our experienced staff are able to assess what hardware and software is needed and then source it at the best possible price. We can also demonstrate the iPad 2 which comes with some inbuilt accessibility software.
