My Sight Nottinghamshire's Support Centre is open for appointments between 10AM and 4PM, Monday to Friday.
We have recently introduced a booking system for the Support Centre Service. This change is intended to create a positive impact as it will mean that specific time will be put aside for your visit, without disruption. It will also avoid disappointment that could be faced through dropping in as it will ensure that the right person is on site and available to meet with you. Calling us to pre-arrange your visit will give us the opportunity to discuss your requirements, carry out any necessary research and order in any additional items that may be of benefit to you from our external suppliers. An appropriate time frame for the length of your visit will also be discussed with you at the point of first contact so that you can consider when it best suits you to come in.
If you would like to book a visit for equipment, whether it be clocks, watches, shades, games, lighting, kitchen aids, personal items and phones, please call 0115 9706 806.
My Sight Nottinghamshire’s Support Centre is often the first port of call for people across Nottinghamshire who are affected by sight loss. Staff and volunteers are available to demonstrate a range of daily living equipment and higher level technologies. We also provide information and advice to visitors on issues such as how to register, services available at My Sight Nottinghamshire and other organisations that may be able to provide support.
A variety of aids and equipment are available at the My Sight Nottinghamshire Support Centre.
Many of these are daily living items, designed to enable visually impaired people to be more independent in their everyday lives. Examples of this type of equipment are Clocks and Watches, Writing Frames and Guides, Canes and White Walking Sticks, Labelling Devices, Games and Playing Cards, Mobile Phones and Health Products.
We also deal with more specialised equipment, such as electronic magnifiers (portable and desktop) and audio scanners.
If you are interested in viewing or discussing any aids that may support you with your vision, please phone us on 0115 9706 806 and press option one to book your appointment.
Other bookable services include Magnifier Assesssments and Eccentric Viewing Techniques, Audio Equipment available for loan (British Wireless for the Blind) and our Desktop Magnfier Loan System.
The Support Centre has an abundance of information available for visually impaired people. We can tell you about the various services that My Sight Nottinghamshire offers, including our Support Services, Leisure Services and Transcription Services. All of our information relating to these services is available in large print, audio and Braille formats. Please also take a look or ask us about the information that features on our notice boards if you pop in.
We can also signpost you to other appropriate organisations that may be able to help you in some way, whether this is by providing you with talking books or telling you about holidays on offer. We have frequent contact with Social Services (Adult Sensory Team) and Action for Blind People, so can provide information relating to their services as well, and make referrals when appropriate.
We hold a range of leaflets from other providers and organisations that detail their services, providing large print and other accessible versions of these whenever possible.
We sometimes hold one off special events around specific subjects or equipment. Keep checking this section of the website for more information!
If you would like to speak to us about this or any service please call 0115 9706 806.
