If you or someone you know has a creative streak but struggles to access art and craft because of sight loss, then why not get involved in our arts workshops? Led by Jeanne, our Arts Development Officer, along with her team of enthusiastic volunteers all sessions have been designed especially for people with sight loss and we guarantee you’ll be amazed by what you can achieve with the right support!
Sessions currently include a variety of forms, ranging from ceramics, sculpture and collage. decorative arts, painting and drawing. Other activities have previously included textiles workshops with people taking part in knitting, sewing and felting.
As part of the workshops, there is often the opportunity to work with local artists, and attend exhibitions in and around Nottinghamshire. Previous visits have included audio and tactile tours at galleries in Nottingham. The workshops also have gues’s who bring along items to inspire your art work.
The arts sessions cater for all abilities from beginners to creative individuals. At each session we aim for everyone to ‘have a go’ and create arts and crafts in a sociable and friendly atmosphere, with a regular supply of tea and biscuits! The sessions run from the Nottingham, Mansfield and Newark hubs.
Our visually impaired artists also enjoy regular visits to local art galleries often for audio visual and Touch Tours. We also organise occasional trips to arts and craft venues.
