My Sight Notts has moved

web_small_280_200_tl_53_c1_c_cAfter more than 30 years at Ortzen Street, Radford, My Sight Notts has moved! We will be moving into more accessible premises in Nottingham city centre in the autumn.

Building a brighter future

The move follows extensive consultation with local blind and partially sighted people, who told us that Ortzen Street is difficult to get to by public transport and is somewhere many people don’t like to travel to after dark. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the support and services we provide because they find it hard to get to our centre. That’s why we’ve taken the decision to listen to what people have told us and to sell our Ortzen Street centre, which is too big, expensive to maintain and no long meets our needs and move into a bright, more accessible building in Nottingham City Centre.
Our new centre will be on Heathcoat Street, which is accessible from all major bus and tram routes into the city. The new building is all on one level for easy access, is large enough to accommodate our needs and even has access to metered parking, with other parking options close by.
We are carrying out some internal building works to create a bright, social space for visually impaired people to enjoy and while these works take place our staff will be based in free temporary office accommodation above our charity shop in Hockley while the building work takes place we will continue to deliver most of our services from community venues and we hope to launch our new centre in Heathcoat Street in the autumn.

A toast to the future and a fond farewell!

To celebrate this exciting development, our Thursday Social Group threw a big party! There was dancing, live music, party games, cakes and much more besides!
