Service User Involvement (SUMIT)
SUMIT is our Service User Member Involvement Team and its work is integral to the continued success of our charity.
The team is made up of 15 blind and partially sighted men and women of all ages who live in both urban and rural communities across Nottinghamshire.
SUMIT members play a key role in our organisation by representing the views of the visually impaired people who use our services. Not only do our staff consult with them before changes are made to existing serviced or new services are developed, but SUMIT members also lead our consultation and engagement agenda, setting priorities and consulting with our visually impaired members.
All visually impaired people living in Nottingham city or Nottinghamshire county are eligible to become a member of SUMIT, all that’s needed is a commitment to represent the view of other local visually impaired people fairly and in a way that is courteous and respectful of the rights of all members of My Sight Notts.
The SUMIT committee meets every month, usually on the last Wednesday of each month and meetings are chaired by a volunteer from among the group, so that everyone has an equal opportunity to lead meetings if they wish.
