It is with deep regret that we announce the forthcoming closure of our Carlton Street charity shop. The last trading day will be Saturday, 30th May 2026.
In recent years, the charity retail environment has changed significantly. Increasing operating costs, alongside reduced in-store sales driven in part by the growing popularity of online resale platforms such as Vinted, have made it increasingly difficult for this shop to remain financially viable. After exploring every possible option, we have reached the conclusion that closure is, sadly, the only viable course of action.
We want to reassure our supporters that the charity as a whole remains financially stable and continues to provide essential services to those who rely on us. While this decision reflects the specific pressures facing this shop, it allows us to safeguard the wider work of the organisation.
We also want to take this opportunity to pay tribute to Lynne, our dedicated shop manager. Lynne’s commitment, warmth, and tireless work have made the shop a welcoming and valued part of the local community. She has supported volunteers, built lasting relationships with customers and played a key role in the shop’s success over the years. Her contribution has been truly appreciated, and she will be greatly missed.
Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to all our volunteers, donors and customers for their loyal support over the last 13 years. Their kindness and generosity have made a meaningful difference.
