Our Smart Room at our Heathcoat Street office is a purpose-built space designed to look like a real living room and kitchen. It shows how everyday technology and simple adaptations can help you live more independently at home.

What is the Smart Room?

The Smart Room is a demonstration space where you can see, try, and learn about equipment that may make daily tasks easier if you have sight loss. It allows you to explore solutions in a realistic home environment, rather than just reading about them.

What can you try?

We can demonstrate a wide range of helpful technology and equipment, including:

• Talking televisions and smart speakers

• Accessible kitchen and household equipment

• Simple aids such as ‘bump-ons’ – small, brightly coloured raised dots that can be placed on buttons, dials, and appliances to make them easier to use

Our team will talk with you about your needs and show you options that may support your independence at home.
