Community Fundraising

Our community fundraising efforts are vital in helping us provide support, services and resources to individuals across Nottinghamshire. Whether you are hosting a local event, running your own fundraiser, or raising awareness in your community, every effort counts.

Get involved today and help us ensure that people living with sight loss have the opportunity to live independent and fulfilling lives. Together we can create a brighter, more inclusive future!

Here are some ways you can fundraise:

  • Sponsored walk, run, swim
  • Bake sale
  • Charity auction
  • Raffle
  • Car wash
  • Dress up / dress down day
  • Take on a challenge – climb Snowdon, skydive!
  • Quiz night
  • Host a donation box

Setting up your community fundraiser:

1. Come up with your fundraising idea – Get in touch with us if you want to discuss your idea or want any support with your event.

2. Set the date, book the venue (if needed), make a list of what you need to do and recruit volunteers to help you.

3. Set up a fundraising page – we would recommend JustGiving or GoFundMe. You can create a JustGiving page here. Ask us for a sponsorship form if needed.

4. Set a fundraising target – whether it’s £100 or £1,000, having a target helps motivate people to donate.

5. Spread the word – shout about your fundraiser and share your fundraising page on social media, via email and WhatsApp, and through word of mouth. Keep people updated with your progress.

6. Reach out for support – Ask local businesses, friends, and family to donate items for raffles or auctions and to volunteer their time to help with the event.

7. Host your event! Remember to take lots of photos – we’d love to see them!

8. Collect donations and let us know how you got on. We want to make sure we say a big thank you for your support!
