Our Equipment and Advice Centre at our Heathcoat Street office offers practical, hands-on support to help you find tools and techniques that make everyday life easier with sight loss.

What is the Equipment and Advice Centre?

The Equipment and Advice Centre is a place where you can receive personalised advice and try out a wide range of specialist equipment. During your visit, one of our Sight Loss Advisors will talk with you about the challenges you face and show you equipment that may help you at home, at work, or when you are out and about.

You will be able to see, handle, and practise using different aids, rather than just hearing about them.

What equipment can you try?

We have a wide range of demonstration equipment available, including:

• Handheld and electronic magnifiers

• Liquid level indicators and bump-ons

• Talking watches and clocks

• Portable, task, and floor daylight lighting

• Filters and glasses

• Kitchen aids

• Health and wellbeing aids

• Devices for listening to audiobooks

• Stationery

Our advisors can explain how each item works and help you decide what may be most useful for your needs.

The Equipment and Advice Centre is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.00pm, by appointment only.
