This training will help you engage more effectively with patients and clients who have visual impairments, providing effective support and ensuring your information and services are accessible. It will also raise awareness of the Low Vision equipment, advice and support currently available and introduce some of the new technology providing essential support for people with sight loss.
By attending this training you will:
- Understand the physical and emotional effects of sight loss;
- Identify barriers for people with visual loss when accessing information and services;
- Identify solutions and practical tips for effective engagement;
- Gain practical skills for effectively guiding people with sight loss:
- Learn about the range of Low Vision equipment and accessible technology currently available for people with sight loss;
- Have awareness of local support available and how to refer on;
- Understand Equality and Diversity Legislation and good practice in relation to accessible information and services.
This interactive and informative session will involve group work, presentation and personal experiences of living with sight loss.
Training is funded and supported by Nottingham and Nottinghamshire’s Integrated Care System and is currently available free of charge to all Health and Social Care staff practicing within the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICS footprint.
