New internships for blind and partially sighted jobseekers to Get Set Progress
An exciting new programme of internships has just launched in Nottinghamshire for blind and partially sighted jobseekers to Get Set Progress!
The paid internship is open to blind and visually impaired talent across Notts and offers a nine month paid internship with local sight loss charity, My Sight Notts. The successful visually impaired candidate will join the charity as a Sight Loss Advisor, working to reduce social and digital exclusion by supporting other visually impaired people to benefit from My Sight Nottinghamshire’s My Guide and Tech Befriender projects.
Michael Conroy, Chief Executive at My Sight Notts, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for local visually impaired people to secure the first rung on the career ladder and for those returning to work after a career break to really shine in the workplace and to gain valuable experience and learn new skills, leading to future job opportunities.
“At My Sight Notts we’re passionate about nurturing the talents of visually impaired people and contributing to the removal of barriers to their employment. So we’re absolutely thrilled to hear we’ve been successful in our application for funding from Thomas Pocklington Trust to support a visually impaired intern as part of their Get Set Progress project. We’re really looking forward to recruiting and welcoming a new visually impaired intern to our team.”
Emma Lucas, Services Manager at My Sight Notts, said: “The new internship is now open for applications and we’d like to invite as many visually impaired people as possible seeking work across in the county to apply via the link: Sight Loss Advisor Intern – My Sight Nottinghamshire Closing date for applications is 24 April 2022.”
About the Get Set Progress programme
