Early Intervention
Early Intervention, treatment: Many conditions are treatable; the earlier someone with an eye conditions seeks treatment, the more likely that some sight can be saved, the speed of the deterioration can be decreased or the symptoms can be managed better.
Early intervention, support: People should be offered support for adapting to sight loss at the earliest possible stage. This can prevent further issues such as injuries, falls, isolation, depression and other mental health issues.
Support is available in the form of Low Vision Services, Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLO) based at the hospital, Sight Loss Advisors; Vision Impairment Rehabilitation Officers; counselling and other talking therapies and many other local services that the above will refer or signpost patients/clients on to.
